Yesterday, SIS Junior and Senior Chess teams from 16 schools gathered at St Margaret’s College Officer for a day of competition and strategic play.
There was plenty of sharp strategy on display and it was encouraging to see strong participation again this year, with over 160 students taking part.
As the day unfolded, students had the opportunity to be matched against others of a similar level, which made for more balanced and enjoyable games. Northern Star again proved to be excellent facilitators of the tournament.
After seven rounds and the tallying of all scores, the SIS shields were awarded as follows:
Junior Division: St Peter’s College – Clyde North
Runners-up: Casey Grammar & SFX Berwick
Senior/Open St Francis Xavier College - Beaconsfield
Division: Runners-up: St Peter’s College – Clyde North
