Congraluations to Padua College who have emerged as the 2022 Herald Sun Shield Division Two Senior Boys champions after they defeated MacKillop College Werribee by 48 points in the Grand Final yesterday at Williamstown Football Ground, the final score 12.9 81 to 5.3 33.
Padua entered the Grand Final having defeated a combined team representing Christian Schools Events Network (CSEN) in the semi-final 20.10 (130) to 5.4 (34) at Craigieburn last week, while MacKillop progressed directly through to the decider.
The match was played at a high level in blustery conditions and both teams went into the final quarter a chance to win the game with Padua having the slight edge on the scoreboard but MacKillop finishing with the breeze.
However, a dominant final quarter saw Padua stamp their authority on the contest and take out the Shield competition in emphatic fashion.
Padua midfielder, Fletcher Bayne, was named best-on-ground on the day for a dominant display across four quarters. Other Padua standouts were Josh Smith and Jake Mones up forward, and for MacKillop Brodie Montgomery worked tirelessly all day.
