The Performing Arts Concert was held on Tuesday, 31st March returning to the preferred venue - The Drum Theatre, Dandenong.  The evening proved to be successful with positive feedback received from many schools, families and guests.  The program incorporated Concert Band, Hip Hop and Contemporary Dance, Percussion Ensemble, Choir and individual school performances.

Participating schools were:- Beaconhills, John Paul, Maranatha, Nazareth, Padua (Mornington and Rosebud), St Francis Xavier (Beaconsfield and Berwick), St James, St John’s and St Peter’s

Thank you to John Paul College who again hosted the Day 1 and Day 2 Rehearsals.  Many areas of the College were required.  Three rooms in the Stella Maris Centre, Assembly and Drama Rooms.  A light lunch was provided for staff each day.

The annual exhibition Opening Night was a success at the Cube 37 Gallery on Monday 26th October 2009.  SIS President Maxwell Cuddon partnered our Guest Speaker, Pamela Irving in an outstanding opening address which included acknowledgement of artwork from each SIS participating school.  Namely, Beaconhills, Flinders-Tyabb, John Paul, Maranatha, Nazareth, Padua-Mornington, St Francis Xavier, St James, St John’s, St Leonard’s, St Peter’s.
Nazareth student, Alexandra Svoboda played some peaceful guitar music as guests arrived.

The use of projectors for media presentations by Flinders-Tyabb and St Johns were noticed by many.

This 2009 Championship was hosted in a perfect Drama Room at Flinders College, Tyabb Campus on Wednesday 21st October. 
A fun filled day was experienced by 115 students as we were directed by our MC Mr Jason Geary from Impro Melbourne.
Nazareth College Junior students were acknowledged as the Best Dressed Team.
Congratulations to Flinders-Tyabb for winning both the Junior and Senior shields. 
The following awards were also presented:-
Best Line – Junior “Grandma is dead, she never liked me” Emma Halliday, St Leonards
Best Line – Senior “You came to a dark alleyway for some rice bubbles” Sean McKechnie, St James
Best Team Player, MC Award Tyson Tifere, St Peter’s

On Wednesday 9th September, the 2009 Chess Championship was hosted by Woodleigh School in the Hall with an SIS first “chess board one, projected on the wall for the audience to view”.  The following ten schools participated in the tournament:- Beaconhills, John Paul, Nazareth, Padua-Mornington, St Francis Xavier, St James, St John’s, St Leonard’s, St Peter’s, Woodleigh. 
John Paul College were back to back Chess Champions with all participants competing in a friendly competition.
It was wonderful also to watch many school teachers enjoying a friendly game.
