HISTORY / INTRODUCTION

Southern Independent Schools (SIS) was established in 1986 as a group Independent Secondary Schools in southern metropolitan Melbourne who associate for the purpose of sporting and cultural interchange.  The objectives are clear as we carry out sporting events in a range of sport and conduct cultural events for the promotion of cultural appreciation amongst the students.

We provide opportunities for students in a choice of Sport.  Namely, a range of Weekly Sports, Swimming, Athletic and Cross Country carnivals.  Cultural events are also widely acknowledged.  Namely, a Performing Arts Concert, Drama and Theatresports, Chess and Debating Championships and an Art & Technology Exhibition.

The basis of these interschool activities are arranged and entered into in order to cultivate friendship, goodwill and a spirit of sportsmanship and comradeship.  Co-operation, generosity, courtesy and consideration, together with healthy competition is to prevail at all times.

Particular appreciation and thanks each year to all staff members who provide support and commitment to the numerous SIS teams.
